India Clocks 2,151 Covid Cases In Last 24 Hours, Highest In 5 Months

 

India Covid Cases: The death count has increased to 5,30,848 with seven deaths, the Health Ministry said.

New Delhi:

India logged 2,151 new coronavirus cases, the highest in five months, while the active cases have increased to 11,903, according to Union Health Ministry data updated today.

The death count has increased to 5,30,848 with seven deaths, the Health Ministry said. Three deaths were reported by Maharashtra, one by Karnataka and three reconciled by Kerala.

The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 1.51 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 1.53 per cent.

The fresh cases bring the total Covid tally in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4.47 crore (4,47,09,676). Active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total number of infections. Meanwhile, the national recovery rate was recorded at 98.78 per cent, Health Ministry data said.

The number of people who have recovered from Covid jumped to 4,41,66,925 with over 1,200 fresh recoveries. The Covid case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent. 

According to Health Ministry data, 11,336 covid vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours. So far 220.65 crore vaccine doses -- 95.20 crore second doses and 22.86 crore precaution doses -- have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Karnataka Election Date 2023: Polling on May 10, results on May 13

 

 

The Election Commission announced that the assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. The votes will be counted on May 13.

By India Today News Desk: The Karnataka Assembly election is scheduled to be held on May 10 and the results will be announced on May 13, said the Election Commission of India on Wednesday.

The election will be held for all 224 assembly constituencies. The election Model Code of conduct will be implemented from today (March 29).

The Congress party announced its first list of 124 candidates on March 25. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will contest from Varuna and Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar will contest from Kanakapura constituency.

Siddaramaiah said this would be his last election and after this, he will stay away from electoral politics. He said he is the son of the Varuna constituency and that is why he will contest from there. However, he added, "But the people of Kolar have shown me love and asked me to enter the contest from there as well. So I have asked the party high command to get a ticket from Kolar also."

Earlier on March 20, the Aam Aadmi Party on March 20 also released its first list comprising 80 candidates. The party has said it will field candidates in all the 224 Assembly constituencies in the state.

The tenure of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on May 24, 2023.

The previous assembly elections in the state were held in May 2018.
